A phalanx is a military formation used in ancient warfare, particularly by Greek armies. It consists of soldiers arranged in close ranks, typically with shields overlapping and long spears pointed outward. This tight, disciplined structure allowed soldiers to work together effectively, providing strength through unity. The phalanx enabled armies to withstand enemy charges and deliver powerful counter-attacks.
