Penfield map

The Penfield map, named after neurosurgeon Wilder Penfield, is a representation of the human brain's motor and sensory functions. It illustrates how different areas of the brain correspond to specific body parts. When stimulated, each area can produce movements or sensations in those body parts. The map is often depicted as a "homunculus," a distorted figure showing body parts sized according to the amount of brain dedicated to them. For example, areas controlling the hands and face are much larger than those for the arms and legs, highlighting the importance of fine motor skills and facial sensations.
