Pandita Ramabai (1858-1922) was an Indian social reformer, scholar, and advocate for women's rights. Born into a Brahmin family, she was educated in Sanskrit and became one of the first women to gain a significant reputation in this male-dominated field. Ramabai worked tirelessly to improve the status of women in India, particularly focusing on issues like child marriage and widow empowerment. She founded the Arya Mahila Samaj, a women's organization, and established a home for widows. Her writings and activism laid the groundwork for future feminist movements in India, making her a key figure in the history of social reform.
