Ovulation

Ovulation is the process during a woman’s menstrual cycle when a mature egg is released from an ovary. This typically occurs around the midpoint of the cycle, roughly 14 days before menstruation begins. The release is regulated by hormonal signals in the body, primarily involving luteinizing hormone (LH). Once released, the egg travels through the fallopian tube, where it may be fertilized by sperm. If fertilization occurs, pregnancy can begin; if not, the egg disintegrates, and the menstrual cycle continues. Ovulation is essential for natural conception to happen.
