Orbitofrontal Cortex

The orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) is a part of the brain located above the eyes and at the front of the skull. It plays a key role in decision-making, emotion regulation, and social behavior. The OFC helps us evaluate rewards and punishments, guiding our choices based on past experiences. It also processes sensory information related to taste and smell, contributing to our preferences and aversions. Essentially, the orbitofrontal cortex helps us navigate our social interactions and make judgments about what is valuable or important in our environment.
