orbitofrontal syndrome
Orbitofrontal syndrome is a condition resulting from damage to the orbitofrontal cortex, a part of the brain involved in decision-making, impulse control, and emotional regulation. People with this syndrome may experience impulsivity, inappropriate social behavior, difficulty planning, and poor judgment. They might also show flattened or exaggerated emotional responses and struggle with understanding the consequences of their actions. The condition can occur after brain injuries, strokes, or surgeries affecting this area. Treatment often focuses on managing symptoms through behavioral therapy and support, as the underlying brain damage cannot usually be reversed.
