Operation Condor

Operation Condor was a covert campaign in the 1970s and 1980s involving several South American dictatorships, including Argentina, Chile, and Brazil. Its goal was to eliminate leftist influences and political opposition through surveillance, torture, and assassination. Supported by the United States, the operation facilitated cooperation between these regimes to track down, detain, and kill suspected subversives, often across national borders.
