Operation Bagration
Operation Bagration was a major Soviet military offensive during World War II, launched in June 1944 against German forces in Belarus. Named after a Russian general, the operation aimed to destroy the German Army Group Centre. It involved a well-coordinated strategy using deceptive tactics, overwhelming artillery, and massive troop movements. The Soviets achieved significant victories, leading to the liberation of Belarus and inflicting heavy casualties on the Germans. This successful campaign marked a turning point in the war, weakening German positions on the Eastern Front and paving the way for the Soviet advance into Eastern Europe.
