Oliver North
Oliver North is a former U.S. Marine Corps officer known for his role in the Iran-Contra scandal during the 1980s. He was involved in secret operations that funneled arms to Iran, which was then under an arms embargo, and used the proceeds to support Contra rebels in Nicaragua. This controversial action went against U.S. law and policy. North became a central figure in congressional hearings and faced legal challenges, ultimately receiving a pardon from President George H.W. Bush in 1992. He later transitioned to a career in media and writing, becoming a prominent conservative commentator.
