Neapolitan Republic

The Neapolitan Republic was a short-lived republic established in 1799 in Naples, Italy, during the upheaval of the French Revolution. Following the French invasion, revolutionary leaders declared a republic, promoting democratic ideals and social reforms. However, the republic faced opposition from royalists and foreign powers, leading to its downfall within months. In June 1799, the republic was crushed, and the monarchy was restored. Despite its brief existence, the Neapolitan Republic represented the struggle for liberty and popular governance in a time of significant political change in Europe.
