National Invasive Species Council

The National Invasive Species Council (NISC) is a U.S. government organization that aims to manage and reduce the impact of invasive species—plants and animals that are not native to a region and can harm the environment, economy, or human health. Established in 1999, the NISC coordinates efforts across federal, state, and tribal agencies to prevent the introduction of invasive species and to control their spread. It promotes cooperation, research, and public awareness to protect ecosystems and biodiversity against these harmful non-native species.
