National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID)
The National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID) is part of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Its main goal is to protect public health by monitoring, researching, and responding to new and re-emerging infectious diseases, especially those that can be transferred from animals to humans (zoonotic diseases). NCEZID works to understand how these diseases spread, develop strategies for prevention and control, and prepare for potential outbreaks, ensuring that communities are better defended against infectious threats.
