Myeloid cells

Myeloid cells are a type of immune cell derived from bone marrow. They play a crucial role in the body’s defense system. Key types include macrophages, which “eat” harmful organisms; neutrophils, which respond quickly to infections; and dendritic cells, which help activate other immune cells. Myeloid cells are essential for identifying and eliminating pathogens like bacteria and viruses, as well as for tissue repair. They are part of the innate immune response, providing immediate defense, distinguishing them from lymphoid cells, which are involved in more specific, long-term immunity.
