Mr. Qu Dongyu

Qu Dongyu is a Chinese agricultural scientist who has been serving as the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations since August 2019. His work focuses on improving food security, sustainable agriculture, and enhancing the livelihoods of rural populations. Qu has a background in plant genetics and breeding, and prior to his role at FAO, he held various academic and high-level positions related to agriculture in China. He is recognized for his efforts to innovate and modernize agricultural practices to tackle global challenges such as hunger and climate change.
