Monitored Anesthesia Care

Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC) is a type of anesthesia used during certain medical procedures that require sedation, but not complete unconsciousness like general anesthesia. In MAC, a trained anesthetist closely watches the patient’s vital signs and comfort levels while administering sedative medications. This allows patients to be relaxed and pain-free while often remaining aware of their surroundings. If necessary, deeper sedation can be provided, but the goal is to keep the patient in a state where they can respond to instructions, ensuring safety and comfort during procedures.
