Total Intravenous Anesthesia
Total Intravenous Anesthesia (TIVA) is a method used during surgery to keep a patient completely unconscious and pain-free. Instead of using a mixture of gases, TIVA delivers all the anesthetic drugs directly into the bloodstream through an IV. This allows for precise control over the patient's level of sedation and can lead to fewer side effects during recovery. TIVA is often preferred for certain surgeries because it can provide smoother anesthesia and quicker awakening without the lingering effects associated with inhaled anesthetics.
