Moncada Barracks

The Moncada Barracks is a historically significant military facility in Cuba, located in Santiago de Cuba. It was built in the late 19th century and served as a key strategic military installation. On July 26, 1953, it became the site of an important event when a group of revolutionaries, led by Fidel Castro, attacked the barracks in an attempt to overthrow the government. Although the assault failed, it marked the beginning of Cuba’s revolutionary movement. The date is now celebrated as Cuba’s National Day of Resistance and significant in its history of fighting for independence.
