Modern City-States

Modern city-states are small, independent political entities that consist of a single city and its surrounding territory. They possess full sovereignty, much like countries, but are usually much smaller. Examples include Singapore, Monaco, and Vatican City. City-states often have their own governments, laws, and economies, and can be centers of trade, culture, or finance. Their unique status allows them to thrive in globalization, leveraging their strategic locations and specialized economies while maintaining distinct identities and governance structures separate from larger nations.
