Millicent Fawcett
Millicent Fawcett (1847-1929) was a prominent British suffragist and advocate for women's rights. She is best known for her leadership in the suffrage movement, promoting peaceful campaigning for women's right to vote in the UK. Fawcett founded the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies (NUWSS) and emphasized rational argument and constitutional methods over militant tactics. Her efforts were instrumental in gaining some voting rights for women in 1918, and she continued to champion gender equality throughout her life. In 2018, a statue of Fawcett was unveiled in Parliament Square, honoring her legacy and contributions to women's rights.
