Mesolithic period

The Mesolithic Period, often called the Middle Stone Age, lasted from about 10,000 to 5,000 BCE, bridging the gap between the Paleolithic (Old Stone Age) and Neolithic (New Stone Age) eras. During this time, humans transitioned from a hunter-gatherer lifestyle to more settled communities. They developed new tools, such as microliths—small, pointy stones used for hunting and fishing. With changing climates, people adapted to diverse environments, utilizing local resources. The Mesolithic also saw the beginnings of early farming practices and social structures, laying the groundwork for the advancements of the Neolithic period.
