Mendelian traits

Mendelian traits are characteristics that follow specific patterns of inheritance, as described by Gregor Mendel in the 19th century. These traits are determined by single genes, where one version (allele) may dominate over another. For example, the allele for brown eyes can dominate over the allele for blue eyes. If a child inherits one brown eye allele from a parent, they will typically have brown eyes. Mendelian traits include features like flower color in plants and certain human traits, such as blood type or whether a person can roll their tongue.
