Melanoma Diagnostics
Melanoma diagnostics involves identifying skin cancer that starts in melanocytes, the cells that produce pigment. Doctors look for changes in moles or skin lesions using the ABCDE method: Asymmetry, Border irregularity, Color variation, Diameter over 6mm, and Evolving size or appearance. A dermatologist may perform a biopsy, removing a small tissue sample for lab testing, to confirm if it's melanoma. Imaging tests, like CT scans, may also be used to check for spread. Early detection is crucial for successful treatment, making regular skin checks important for skin health.
