Melanocytic Tumors
Melanocytic tumors are growths that arise from melanocytes, the cells in the skin responsible for producing the pigment melanin, which gives color to the skin. These tumors can be benign, like moles (nevi), or malignant, such as melanoma, a serious form of skin cancer. Benign melanocytic tumors typically don't pose health risks, while malignant ones can spread to other parts of the body if not detected early. Regular skin checks for changes in moles or new growths are important for early detection and treatment of potentially harmful melanocytic tumors.
