
Marsha P. Johnson
Marsha P. Johnson (1945-1992) was an American activist and key figure in the LGBTQ+ rights movement. Born in New Jersey, she was a Black transgender woman and drag performer who played a crucial role in the Stonewall riots of 1969, which marked a turning point for LGBTQ+ activism in the United States. Johnson co-founded the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR) with Sylvia Rivera to support homeless transgender and LGBTQ+ youth.
