Malting process
Malting is a process where grains, usually barley, are prepared for brewing beer or distilling alcohol. It involves soaking the grains in water to activate germination, during which enzymes break down stored starches into fermentable sugars. After a few days, germination is halted by drying the grains with warm air, producing malted barley. This process enhances flavor and creates the sugars needed for fermentation, laying the foundation for beer and spirits production.
