Magnetic North
Magnetic North refers to the direction that a magnetic compass points, which is influenced by the Earth's magnetic field. Unlike true North (the North Pole), Magnetic North changes over time due to shifts in the Earth’s magnetic core. This means that when using a compass for navigation, adjustments may be needed to account for the difference between Magnetic North and true North, known as magnetic declination. Understanding this distinction is important for accurate navigation, whether in hiking, sailing, or other outdoor activities.
