Lymphadenopathy
Lymphadenopathy refers to the swelling of lymph nodes, which are small, bean-shaped structures part of the immune system. They help fight infections and diseases. When the body detects an illness, such as an infection or inflammation, lymph nodes can become enlarged as they produce more white blood cells. This swelling can occur in various body areas, often noticed in the neck, armpits, or groin. While it can indicate harmless conditions like infections, persistent or painful lymphadenopathy may require medical evaluation to rule out more serious issues, such as tumors or cancers.
