Lunar Soil

Lunar soil, also called regolith, is the loose, crushed material covering the Moon's surface. It consists of tiny rock fragments, dust, and mineral particles created by billions of years of meteorite impacts. Unlike Earth’s soil, lunar regolith lacks organic material and has a very fine, powdery texture, often sharp and abrasive. It plays a crucial role for astronauts and future exploration, as it can harbor valuable minerals and resources like oxygen and possibly water. Understanding lunar soil helps scientists learn about the Moon’s history and develop technologies for future missions.
