LRE (Least Restrictive Environment)
Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) is an educational principle that emphasizes providing students with disabilities the opportunity to learn alongside their non-disabled peers to the greatest extent possible. It aims to ensure that students receive the necessary support and accommodations while remaining in general education settings, rather than being isolated in more restrictive environments. The goal of LRE is to promote inclusion, social interaction, and equal access to educational resources, allowing students to thrive academically and socially. Schools are required to consider LRE when developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
