Leukocytoclastic Vasculitis
Leukocytoclastic vasculitis is a type of inflammation in small blood vessels, often triggered by infections, medications, or autoimmune diseases. It primarily affects the skin, causing symptoms like red spots, rashes, or bruising. This condition occurs when white blood cells, particularly neutrophils, accumulate in the blood vessel walls, leading to damage and leakage. Diagnosis typically involves medical history, physical examination, and sometimes a skin biopsy. Treatment focuses on addressing the underlying cause and may include corticosteroids or immunosuppressive medications to reduce inflammation. While it can be uncomfortable, most cases respond well to treatment and improve over time.
