Cryoglobulinemia
Cryoglobulinemia is a condition where abnormal proteins called cryoglobulins become solid or gel-like at low temperatures, affecting blood circulation. This can lead to symptoms like skin rashes, joint pain, and fatigue. Cryoglobulinemia often relates to other underlying health issues, like infections (often hepatitis C), autoimmune diseases, or certain cancers. Treatment focuses on addressing the underlying cause and managing symptoms, sometimes involving medications to reduce inflammation or improve blood flow. In severe cases, more advanced treatments, such as plasmapheresis (a procedure to filter the blood), may be necessary.
