Erythema

Erythema is the medical term for redness of the skin caused by increased blood flow to the affected area. It often appears as a localized or widespread redness, which can result from irritation, infection, allergic reactions, injury, or inflammation. The redness occurs because the blood vessels dilate, allowing more blood to reach the skin's surface. Erythema can be temporary or persistent, depending on the cause, and may be accompanied by other symptoms like warmth, swelling, or discomfort. It’s a common response of the body's immune or healing processes.
