Lava dome

A lava dome is a volcanic feature formed from the slow accumulation of viscous lava that piles up near a volcano's vent. Unlike explosive eruptions, lava domes grow gradually, resembling a small, steep-sided mound. As lava oozes out, it cools and hardens, creating a compact structure. These domes can be found on various volcanoes and can vary in size. Over time, they may collapse or be destroyed during eruptions, but they often represent the final stages of volcanic activity, signifying a quieter phase compared to more explosive volcanic events.
