Laura Secord (historical figure)

Laura Secord (1775–1868) was a Canadian heroine of the War of 1812, known for her brave efforts in warning British forces of an impending American attack. After overhearing American troop plans while hiding in the woods, she walked over 20 miles through dangerous terrain to alert Lieutenant James FitzGibbon.
