Latent TB infection

Latent TB infection occurs when a person has been exposed to the bacteria that cause tuberculosis (TB) but does not have active TB disease. In this state, the bacteria remain in the body in an inactive form and can cause no symptoms, nor can they be spread to others. However, latent TB can become active if the immune system weakens, leading to illness. People with latent TB can be identified through specific tests and may be treated to prevent the development of active TB in the future. It's important for overall public health to manage and monitor latent infections.
