Tuberculosis Screening Guidelines
Tuberculosis (TB) screening involves testing individuals at risk to detect infection early, even if they have no symptoms. Common tests include skin tests (Mantoux) or blood tests (IGRA). Screening is recommended for certain groups such as close contacts of TB patients, people with weakened immune systems, those born in or traveled to high TB prevalence areas, and healthcare workers. The goal is to identify and treat latent TB infection before it develops into active, contagious disease. Regular screening helps prevent the spread of TB and protect public health.
