Korotkoff sounds

Korotkoff sounds are the series of sounds heard through a stethoscope when measuring blood pressure. They occur as the cuff around the arm is slowly deflated. The first sound you hear signals the systolic pressure, indicating when the heart beats and blood starts flowing again. As you continue to deflate the cuff, you'll hear a series of additional sounds, which eventually fade away, marking the diastolic pressure, or the point when the blood flow is smooth and uninterrupted. These sounds help healthcare providers determine a person's blood pressure accurately.
