Khilafat Resolution

The Khilafat Resolution, adopted in 1919, was a movement initiated by Indian Muslims to support the Ottoman Empire, which had been disbanded after World War I. Believing that the Khalifa (the Ottoman Sultan) was a symbolic leader of the Muslim community, Indian Muslims protested against the British government's actions that threatened the Khalifat. The movement aimed to preserve the authority of the Khalifa and protect Muslim interests. It also fostered Hindu-Muslim unity in India, as many Hindus supported the cause.
