Khalq Party

The Khalq Party, or Khalq, was a political group in Afghanistan founded in the late 1960s, part of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA). It aimed to create a socialist state and was known for its populist approach, appealing to the working class and rural peasants. In the late 1970s, it played a significant role in the Saur Revolution, which overthrew the Afghan monarchy. The party's policies led to significant social changes but also faced backlash, contributing to civil unrest. In the 1980s, Khalq's influence declined as internal divisions emerged within the PDPA.
