
Kılıç Ali Paşa
Kılıç Ali Paşa was a prominent 16th-century Ottoman naval commander and admiral, known for his significant role in expanding the Ottoman Empire's naval power. Originally from Italy, he converted to Islam and became a skilled strategist, leading the Ottoman fleet during key battles in the Mediterranean. He is best known for his leadership in the Battle of Lepanto in 1571 and for strengthening naval capabilities. Besides military achievements, he also contributed to architecture in Istanbul, commissioning the Kılıç Ali Paşa Mosque and other structures, leaving a lasting legacy on both the military and cultural landscape of the Ottoman Empire.
