Juan de Valdés
Juan de Valdés (c. 1490–1541) was a Spanish Protestant reformer and theologian, known for his significant influence on the Reformation in Spain. He authored the "Diálogo de la lengua," a book on the Castilian language, and other religious writings that emphasized personal faith and moral living over traditional Catholic practices. Valdés was a contemporary of key reformers like Martin Luther and held progressive views on interpreting Scripture. Although his works faced censorship, he played a crucial role in shaping Protestant thought in the Spanish-speaking world, fostering an environment of religious inquiry and reform during a time of strict Catholic orthodoxy.
