Joseph Bonaparte
Joseph Bonaparte (1768-1844) was the elder brother of Napoleon Bonaparte and a prominent political figure during the Napoleonic era. He served as King of Naples from 1806 to 1808 and later as King of Spain from 1808 to 1813. Joseph's reign in Spain was marked by resistance to French rule, leading to conflict and difficulties with local populations. After Napoleon's downfall, Joseph lived in exile in the United States and Europe. He had a keen interest in law and the arts, reflecting the broader ambitions of the Bonaparte family during their rise in power in early 19th-century Europe.
