Joint Resolution

A Joint Resolution is a formal decision made by both houses of a legislature, typically used for matters requiring approval from both chambers, such as proposing amendments to the Constitution or addressing urgent issues. It is similar to a law but can carry special significance or urgency. Unlike regular resolutions, a Joint Resolution must be passed by both the House of Representatives and the Senate and usually needs the President's approval. Joint Resolutions can also be used to express opinions or principles on specific issues without the force of law.
