John William Burgon
John William Burgon (1813–1888) was a British theologian, biblical scholar, and author, best known for his defense of the traditional text of the Bible against emerging critical views in the 19th century. He played a key role in the development of the "Textus Receptus" and opposed what he saw as errors in modern biblical criticism. Additionally, Burgon was a noted poet and served as Dean of Chichester. His writings, particularly on the Bible and its preservation, have continued to influence theological discourse and discussions around biblical accuracy and translation.
