Jat Kingdoms
The Jat Kingdoms were a collection of agrarian kingdoms established by the Jat people, primarily in northern India, particularly in the regions of Punjab, Haryana, and parts of Rajasthan. Initially, the Jats were agriculturalists, but they rose to prominence in the 17th and 18th centuries, creating powerful states. Notable kingdoms included the Jat principality of Bharatpur and the sovereignty of the Jat ruler Suraj Mal. The Jats played a significant role in resisting Mughal rule and contributed to the region’s cultural and political landscape. Today, Jats are recognized for their influence in agriculture and politics in contemporary India.
