Ignatius Loyola (Saint Ignatius of Loyola)

Saint Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556) was a Spanish priest and the founder of the Society of Jesus, commonly known as the Jesuits. After a transformative spiritual experience while recovering from a war injury, he devoted himself to God and education. Ignatius developed the "Spiritual Exercises," a guide for contemplative prayer and decision-making. His emphasis on discernment and service led the Jesuits to become influential in education, missionary work, and the Catholic Reformation. Canonized as a saint in 1622, his legacy continues to inspire countless individuals committed to faith and social justice.
