Id al-Adha
Id al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is a significant Islamic holiday observed by Muslims worldwide. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God's command. The holiday takes place on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic lunar calendar, coinciding with the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca. Families typically celebrate by performing special prayers, feasting, and sacrificing animals, such as sheep or goats, to share the meat with those in need, emphasizing generosity, community, and gratitude.
