Homegrown Extremism

Homegrown extremism refers to individuals or groups within a country who adopt radical beliefs and engage in violent actions, often inspired by extremist ideologies, without necessarily being directed by foreign terrorist organizations. These individuals typically are motivated by personal grievances, ideological beliefs, or social issues, and may come from diverse backgrounds. Homegrown extremists can pose significant security challenges as they often operate independently and can be harder to identify, making prevention and intervention complex tasks for law enforcement and communities.
