Hitomi (formerly known as Hitomi satellite)
Hitomi, previously known as Hitomi satellite, was a Japanese space observatory launched in 2016 to study cosmic phenomena, particularly black holes and galaxy formation. Equipped with advanced X-ray telescopes, it aimed to observe high-energy regions in space and improve our understanding of the universe's evolution. Unfortunately, the satellite experienced communication issues shortly after launch and was deemed lost. Despite its brief operational life, Hitomi contributed valuable data that enhanced the scientific community's knowledge of astrophysics and the behavior of matter in extreme environments.
