History of Poland

Poland's history is marked by its rise as a powerful kingdom in the 10th century, the establishment of a significant union with Lithuania in 1569, and a golden age of culture and influence. However, it faced partitions in the late 18th century by Prussia, Russia, and Austria, disappearing from the map until 1918. Poland regained independence after World War I, only to be invaded by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union in World War II. After years of communism, Poland transitioned to democracy in 1989, joining NATO and the European Union, becoming a vibrant, modern European nation.
